April 14, 2022
10 year-old Kaylee Talaniec of Orange was overjoyed to see people donating toys to her cause-children battling cancer. “I want to help people with cancer because I just don’t want them to be unhappy all day. I want them to have entertainment and be happy. I feel bad for them,” shared Kaylee.
Kaylee is thankful for her health and family and was inspired by her parents to help others. “My parents, they help people they’re helpful. My mom is a nurse and my dad is a firefighter and I want to be the same but I obviously can’t have a job so I would like to do something that I can do to help people and I try my best. I think you should always like do the right thing and fight for it.”
Kaylee has collected 500 toys since her birthday! Half of the toys were donated to children fighting cancer at Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven Hospital. The other half of the donations will go toward the Tommy Fund, an organization that supports those battling childhood cancer. What’s next for Kaylee? Her plan, is to grow her hair out and when it’s long enough (down to waist) she is going to cut it and donate that to Locks of Love.
